What is it with women and shoes?

What is is with women and shoes? Men seem mystified as to why women like to have more than one pair of shoes. It's not a mystery to us, we just want shoes to match our outfits. We have lots of outfits so it follows that we have a lot of shoes. "But you don't even wear most of them!" say the menfolk in our lives. Quite true, but that's not the point is it? We only have 1 pair of feet so can only wear 1 pair of shoes at a time if that's what they're getting at, BUT, as most women will tell you, sometimes shoes hurt us and we CAN'T wear them again. We spent £xx or sometimes £xxx and it feels like we're throwing the £ away and what sane person doees that? So we keep the painful pieces of footwear in the HOPE the next time we want to wear them the Shoe Fairy will bless us with comfort and a blister-free evening. Sometimes we're lucky and she waves her magic wand of shoeanasthesia over our chosen footwer, but mostly she's out of the country blessing the cast of Sex and the City. "If they hurt your feet then why did you buy them?" again chime the menfolk. Well, newsflash! The shoes did not hurt us in the shop did they? We wouldn't have bought them otherwise (would we?)! Erm ....... Anyway..... We women always hope and prey that one day we will find a pair of shoes we are able to wear more than once, and we're more than happy to keep testing new shoes to see if they'll pass muster and become our ultimate-all-round-shoe. There is a reason our shoes don't hurt in the shop but cause agony on the way home from the office Christmas party and it's been staring us in the face for centuries. Women's feet change size and shape. Maybe it's a "time of the month" thing. Maybe it's temperature. Maybe it's climate or stress? No idea what exactly it is but I and millions of women around the globe know it's REAL. Why else are able to walk for hours round the shops on a Saturday afternoon, only to be practically hobbling come closing time? During those hours our feet have altered and are now making us painfully aware of that by starting to feel asthough they are on fire or going to burst like balloons. Ther's the problem! But what's the solution? More shoes perhaps?
